What We Do

  • The Fire Prevention Bureau investigates and analyzes fire-related incidents to determine the origin and cause of the fire. The Fire Inspector and Fire Marshal work closely with other law enforcement personnel from county and city agencies to complete a successful investigation.
  • The inspection of businesses to ensure compliance with the City’s adopted Fire Prevention Codes, International Fire Code, and NFPA standards.
  • Perform plan reviews for new construction, planned developments, and fire suppression systems.
  • To promote fire prevention and fire safety programs within the community and schools. School programs include teaching K-3rd grade students how to prevent fires, the importance of fire safety mechanisms within the home, and how to “Get Out, Stay Out!” when fires occur. Community programs include; smoke alarm and CO alarm installation, fire extinguisher training, and helping to organize the Public Safety Open House.
