Please know that our department strives to complete your plan reviews in a timely manner, however, our timelines may vary depending on the complexity of the project.
Plan review timelines may be extended if additional information is needed, if other outside agencies are involved and upon receipt of ALL required documentation

Commercial Checklist
Checklists also include a basic list of inspections (not all inclusive, inspections may vary depending on complexity of project)
Commercial Project Information
A commercial plan review typically takes a minimum of 3-4 weeks
7 sets of drawings, plus an electronic pdf copy, are required for commercial projects
- 2 must be sealed
- The remaining 5 can be copies
- A copy in pdf format
Residential Checklists

Residential Projects
A residential plan review takes a minimum of 2 weeks. 2 sets of drawings are required for residential projects
Signs
Please contact the Zoning Division at 231-799-6800 regarding sign ordinances and size restrictions. To expedite the review process, please submit:
- Ground Signs - Foundation details/measurements and wind loads
- Wall Signs - Attachment details, including: type of exterior wall, type of anchor, size of anchor (diameter and length)
- Permits - Regular building permit applications are used as sign permits
