 Compliment or Complaint

The Norton Shores Police Department will accept any compliment or complaint against the agency’s policies and/or its employees.

 

1. If you wish to file a compliment or complaint, you may do so by contacting a supervisor:

    -In person, or

 2. You may also file a compliment or complaint in writing, by sending the appropriate form (see below):

3. It is important that you submit complaints as soon as possible, as information from radio and video systems may be retained for only 30 days.

 

4. After receipt of a complaint, an investigator will be assigned to the case.

    -The investigator may request an opportunity to conduct an interview for more information.

    -The investigator will submit a report to the Chief of Police for review.

    -It is the goal of the department to complete all investigations within 30 days, however, some

 situations do require additional time to complete a thorough investigation.

 

5. Upon completion of a formal investigation, you will be notified in writing of the final outcome from the Chief of Police.
