 How do I obtain an absentee ballot?

There is an application form available at your City Clerk's office or by downloading one of the applications on the Secretary of State's website.  The deadline for applying for an absentee ballot is 2:00 p.m. the Saturday prior to the election.

 What is the last day to register to vote in an election?

To be eligible to vote in the next upcoming election you may register at any Secretary of State branch office, your township, city or county clerk's office, a designated state agency or by mail 15 days prior; in person at your local township or city clerk's office with proof of residency 0 - 14 days prior. 

All voters now can vote early and, also, request to be placed on their local clerk's permanent voter list.

 Where do I vote?

The city is divided into two wards and 9 precincts.  View the Voting Precinct Map section to find your voting location.

 How do I register to vote?

To be eligible to register to vote in Michigan you must be a U.S. citizen, and a resident of Michigan, and 18 years old on or before the next election.

You may register to vote in person at the City Clerk's Office or any Secretary of State Office.  You may also register to vote by mail by completing, signing, and mailing a voter registration form to the Office of the City Clerk. Voter registration forms and information may be obtained by clicking for the Michigan Secretary of State's web site.

 When can campaign signs be displayed?

Campaign signs may be displayed no more than 45 days before an election and must be removed within one week of the election.

 What time are the polls open?

 Polls are open on election day from 7am to 8pm.
