Hunter Safety Program
The Summer Hunter Safety Field Day will be on August 24, 2024 from 8am - 2pm
Past and present members of the Norton Shores Police Department, along with many dedicated volunteers, are providing a Department of Natural Resources approved Hunter Safety Field Day. This Field Day includes simulated hunting training and field instruction. Watch a brief video of our program here! There are two separate processes to participate in Field Day; completing the Hunter-Ed course and registering for the Field Day:
- To complete the Hunter-Ed course, please use this link: HUNTER-ED COURSE
- To register for Field Day, please use this link: FIELD DAY REGISTRATION
You must email your completed Hunter-Ed course voucher by the registration deadline to: brandon.poel@mc911.net. Students who participate in Field Day will receive their Hunter Safety certificate after passing the online class, completing the field day, and passing the written test.
All students will need to be at the Police Department before 8:00 AM on the scheduled Field Day. Participants will be bussed to the field location which has no private parking. Those who are late will not be permitted to attend. This event is outdoors, so please dress for the weather. Lunch will be provided to all participants.
Field Day events include:
- Firearms Training
- Archery Training
- Introduction to Trapping
- First Aid
- Tree Stand Safety
- Tracking
This Field Day is FREE for participants due to the generous donations of several hunting organizations and businesses including those listed on this page. Field Days are typically held twice per year, one in April and one in August.
