Join the Citizen Advisory Committee for the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program.

The City of Norton Shores is proud to announce an opportunity for residents to become actively involved in the shaping of our community's future through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program. We are seeking dedicated individuals to join the Citizen Advisory Committee, a key component in ensuring that the CDBG funds are utilized in the best interests of Norton Shores, especially for the benefit of our low- and moderate-income households.

About the CDBG Program:

The CDBG Program, funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), aims to develop viable urban communities by providing decent housing, suitable living environments, and expanding economic opportunities, primarily for low- and moderate-income persons. It encourages flexible, community-driven strategies to address local needs and priorities, fostering strong partnerships among government levels and the private sector.

Committee Role:

As a member of the Citizen Advisory Committee, you will:

  • Meet a minimum of twice per year to review the administration of the CDBG program.
  • Help determine funding priorities focused on revitalizing low-income neighborhoods.
  • Offer recommendations to the City Council on the allocation and effective use of CDBG funds.

Why Join?

This is a unique chance to:

  • Have a direct impact on the decisions that shape our city.
  • Work alongside like-minded community members.
  • Contribute to the development of policies and strategies that address local challenges.
  • Ensure the equitable distribution of resources to those who need them most.
