Tony Gutierrez was appointed Fire Chief in February 2025. He
began his fire service career in 1998 as a part‑time firefighter with the City of
Norton Shores. In 2008, he joined the Gerald R. Ford International Airport Fire
Department as a career firefighter, where he advanced through the ranks and
ultimately served as Fire Chief until January 2025. Chief Gutierrez holds state
certifications as a Fire Officer III, Fire Instructor II, and Professional
Emergency Manager. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration
from Columbia Southern University and an associate degree in Emergency Medical
Services Management from Baker College.
A lifelong resident of Norton Shores, Chief Gutierrez is honored to continue
serving the community he has always called home.
