"I am a new member of the City of Norton Shores City Council, having served for 1-year and the first African American to serve on the board. It is indeed an honor and privilege. I have lived in Norton Shores for 16 years. After graduating from Western Michigan University with a BA in Science, I began my teaching career for the Kalamazoo Public Schools and finished my career at Muskegon Heights in 2012 after 30 years. I am an active member of Delta Sigma Theta, Inc. Sorority. Additionally, I am a volunteer and community activist, and Foster Mom. Among my volunteer efforts are the American Red Cross, Treasurer for Muskegon Heights Youth Football and Cheer program, Supper House, and Diabetes Cancer programs. I am proud to be a Council Member of the wonderful City of Norton Shores. I am always ready to serve the community and listen to the residents, especially my constituents in Ward I."
