Council Member Jamie Sowa was elected to the position of At-Large Council Member on November 2, 2021, for a four-year term. Prior, she served on the City’s Zoning Board of Appeals from January 2020 until November 2021. Since 2021, she has chaired the Arts and Dash 5K event as part of the City’s annual Arts and Drafts Festival.
Professionally, Council Member Sowa is the Director of Student Affairs at Baker College and The Culinary Institute of Michigan. She holds a Master’s degree from Calvin University and is actively involved in the community, particularly through her volunteer work with the Rotaract Club.
Council Member Sowa is married and has two daughters who attend Mona Shores Public Schools.
